Professional Septic Design
& Soil Testing Process

The septic system design process involves 2 primary steps. Learn more about this process by clicking the steps below.

Step One: Soil Test Phase

This phase is completed by excavating a minimum of 3 backhoe pits in the proposed system area which will be evaluated by the Certified Soil Tester. The soil test determines the type (i.e. conventional vs. mound) and minimum size (square footage) of the system that will need to be to accommodate the quantity of wastewater to be generated from the home or business.

In this phase the designer sizes and specifies the components (tanking, soil treatment area, pumps, etc.) needed to handle the site’s wastewater needs and ensures the design meets state and local sanitary regulations.

Most services have mandatory state and local review/approval fees that are in addition to Advanced Environmental’s services. Those fees vary depending on both the type of work and the locality. For more detailed information or to get an individual quote give us a call or send us an email.

Septic Design SERVICES

Many septic system designs require plan review and approval by the WI Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) before they can be submitted to a County for installation permitting. Most “conventional” residential systems are exempt from this requirement, however, almost all pressurized systems (including mounds and at-grades) and commercial systems will require DSPS plan approval. A review fee is charged by the State for this service and reviews typically take between 3-6 weeks to be completed.
